DJ and Producer

Want to know what Tom Baker would sound like doing Ewan McGregor’s bit on “Choose Life”? Of course you do…
PF Project - “Choose Life was out 10 years ago, was produced by me and Jamie White, and heavily sampled the cult “Trainspotting” film. Positiva signed it and persuaded Messrs. McGregor, Welsh and Channel 4 to let us use the sample. We had a sizeable hit with it and got to prance around on Top of The Pops for five minutes.
For those of you not based in the UK, Tom Baker is a cult British actor - he played Doctor Who in the late 70s, and his career is currently undergoing a cultish renaissance since doing the narrator bits for Little Britain. He also provided the voice for sms to phone messages in the UK over the Christmas 2006 period, and someone with far too much time on their hands has used this fact to their advantage.
Visit The Doctor Sings and check out the first track on the player.
Made me chuckle anyway
Big thanks to Alex from JazzUpstarts for pointing this one out to me!

Just got back from Stockholm, still reeling slightly to be honest
Played at the small but perfectly formed Vardagsrummet (”Living Room” in Swedish) with Ozgur Can (pictured) and J-Dot P. Their policy is that the guest DJs have to be drunk before playing, and I happily obliged. Hello Nadja, Rouzbeh, Richard and the other people I met - much, much fun and after party nonsense

Those of you who know me well will know that I’m a bit of a pseud at heart. I’m an avid reader of mags like Nude, Big Idea, Little White Lies, Granta, Smoke et. al., and in a former life I probably fancied myself as an in-depth cultural features writer (hell, why do you think I keep a blog?)
So when Theme Magazine, an extremely cool New York based culture and travel mag with an Asian bias, asked me to write an article on my DJ trips to Kazakhstan, I almost literally jumped at the chance.
The print edition is out now and available from all good stockists in the US, but you can also read the article online on the Theme Magazine website.
Big thanks to John for asking.
